Bernard Doucette

Obituary of Bernard T. Doucette

Pomona, NY

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bernard T. (Bernie) Doucette on March 20, 2025, at the age of 70. Bernie was born on January 20, 1955, to Bernard and Negrette (Yglesias) Doucette of Stony Point, NY. Bernie was well-known in the community and was often seen walking in his Marine fatigues. He lived in the Stony Point IRA for 30+ years until the past few years due to an illness that required a relocation to Mt. Ivy IRA.

He lived a full life and never let his handicap stop him from achieving anything that life had to offer. Bernie is survived by his sister & guardian Denise (Doucette) Schlegel and her husband Paul, three nieces Rose Scandell, Christina Chemerov, and Angela Lyons, and her children David and Maya.

Bernie enjoyed fishing, retrieving the daily mail, supervising the house, and making sure everything ran smoothly. Bernie would be the first to welcome all. Bernie will be missed dearly by his extended family.

He will be remembered right from the start for the memories we share. He will live forever in our hearts.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 4, from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the Sniffen-Sagala Funeral Home, 235 NY-59, Spring Valley, NY 10977. A funeral service will take place at 12:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, Route 9W in Haverstraw.
