Mark Doty

Obituary of Mark Floyd Doty

Howells, NY

Mark Floyd Doty, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 70, surrounded by the family he cherished and who cherished him in return. Born in Goshen, New York, Mark lived a life defined by dedication, resilience, and love.

For 50 beautiful years, Mark was married to his high school sweetheart, Linda, a bond that stood as a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together, they raised two children, Brian Doty of Middletown and Christina Doty of Howells, who, along with her fiancé Robby Predmore, carry forward his legacy of strength and kindness.

Mark was known for his unwavering work ethic and craftsmanship. He served as the General Manager of the Sears Auto Center at the Orange Plaza Mall before finishing his career as a truck driver. Even after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2004, Mark faced his 20-year battle with grace, humor, and an unshakable spirit. Though his physical strength waned, his wit only sharpened, and his love for his family—especially his grandchildren—grew ever deeper.

To his grandchildren, Kaylin Marie, Kiley Rae, and Kolten Robert, he was simply “Pop-Pop,” a title he wore with pride and joy. In his eyes, they could do no wrong, and nothing—not even illness—stood in the way of his boundless love for them.

Mark’s life was rich with adventure and community. He was a proud Scout Master for Troop 169 in Otisville, NY, and found joy in the great outdoors—whether it was sleeping under the stars on camping trips with his family, fishing, off-roading on four-wheelers, or skeet shooting with friends in his younger days. A loyal Yankees fan, he rarely missed a game on TV, cheering on his team with the same passion he brought to every aspect of his life.

He is survived by his beloved wife Linda; his children Brian and Christina; his grandchildren; his sisters Bonnie (Peter Lazier) and Vicki (Frank Gesualdo), all of Florida; his sister-in-law Cathy (John Haelen); his brother-in-law Barney Horton (Alison); and his nieces and nephews: John, Alicia, Alexandro, Camilla, Madison, and Taylor.

Mark was predeceased by his parents, Ruth M. and Marcus R. Doty, and his sister Lori L. Doty.

In accordance with Mark’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral or memorial service. Instead, a celebration of his life will be held in August—a time to gather, share stories, and honor the remarkable man who touched so many lives with his humor, heart, and unwavering devotion.

Mark Doty’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
