Obituary of Kathy O'Brien

Pine Island, NY

Kathy O’Brien, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025, at the age of 63, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born on October 20, 1961, in Suffern, NY, Kathy lived a life marked by love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to those around her.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 43 years, Gerald O’Brien II; her loving children, Gerald O’Brien III and wife Samatha; Erin O’Brien and significant other Gregory; and her cherished dog (favorite child), Buddy; three sisters, one brother, and many adored nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her mother, Henrietta "Tink" Howard-Conklin, and father, Poppy Slap, as well as her nephew, Steven Viscardo.

Kathy dedicated nearly 30 years of her life to Central Supply at St. Anthony’s Hospital, where she built deep and lasting friendships with many wonderful coworkers. Known for her heart of gold and her undeniable sweet tooth, she brought warmth, humor, and compassion to every space she entered.

One of her greatest joys was spending time shopping with her daughter Erin, a tradition filled with laughter and love.

Kathy’s memory will be forever cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 2:00pm at the Hansen Memorial Park, 221 Langlitz Rd, Westtown, NY 10998.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Warwick Valley Humane Society, a cause close to Kathy’s heart.
