
Obituary of James Kearns
Warwick, NY
James (Jim) Kearns passed away peacefully on Sunday October 12, 2025 at Valley View Nursing Center; he was ninety-four. Jim was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 19, 1931. After two years of service in the Navy, he settled in the Hudson Valley, spending over seventy years across Rockland, Ulster and Orange Counties.
Jim was a long-haul truck driver for over 40 years surviving a nearly fatal crash in his 40s, he went onto drive for another twenty years. He was an avid member of the Elks Club and an enthusiastic bird lover. He loved spending time with his wife of twenty-nine years, Kathleen (Kathy) Garvey. In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his children Christopher, James (Jim) Jr. and Rita as well as seven grandchildren: Catie, Meghan, Emily, Bridget, Deena, James and Ashley. He is also survived by Kathy’s children, including Tracy Trollinger who was especially generous and devoted to her mother and Jim ensuring he was well cared for and they were able to visit often in his final weeks, months and years.
A service of remembrance will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at 11:00am in the Common Room at the Liberty Green Senior Living Apartments, 2 Liberty Court, Warwick NY 10990.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Nation Audubon Society.
