
Obituary of Raymond Sweeney
Washingtonville, NY
Raymond Sweeney, a resident of Washingtonville, NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the Joe Raso Hospice Residence. He was 71. The son of Robert and Ann (Philbin) Sweeney, Ray was an engineer, for 30+ years and worked at Novartis Pharmaceuticals until his retirement in 2016.
Ray enjoyed golfing but enjoyed nothing more than being a “Pop” to his grandson.
Survivors include his wife; Kathy, daughter; Teresa (Thomas) Kohlhepp and grandson; John Raymond, Brothers; Robert and James (Roseann), Nieces’ Juliann Massi (David) and Jennifer Sweeney, Grandnephew; David James and grandniece; Lilianna Elizabeth, Sister; Jeanne Stinson (John), as well as his nephews; John Ryan (Samantha) and Farrell Piacere.
Ray was predeceased by his parents, sister Teresa, and brother Roy.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 11:30am at St. Mary’s RC Church, 42 Goshen Avenue, Washingtonville, NY 10992.
