Joan Elizabeth Sagaas January 29, 1956 – January 19, 2018 Joan E. Sagaas Joan E. Sagaas (nee Small), a long-time resident of Middletown, New York, passed away at home on Friday, January 19, 2018. Joan was born in the Bronx on January 29, 1956. She was raised in Bergenfield, New Jersey and resided in Bergen County, New Jersey until the early 1990’s when she moved to Orange County, New York. Joan is survived by her daughter, Shalyn (Eric) Roda, her loving mother, Frances V. Small, sisters Judith Small and Janet (Anthony) Gregory, a niece, Elena Gregory and aunt, Sister Florence Therese Sarsfield. She is predeceased by her beloved father, John B. Small, and aunt, Anna Mae Sarsfield. Cremation took place at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope, New York. Funeral arrangements will be private at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shalyn Roda at Flawless Paws Pet Grooming, 13 James P. Kelly Way, Suite, D, Middletown, NY 10940 and will be utilized to support a non-profit charity that purchases Christmas gifts each year for the foster children of Orange County, New York.
