Obituary of Bernard Mallon

Bernard Mallon, December 21, 1928 – July 31, 2016 Warwick, NY Bernard Mallon, a long-time Warwick resident, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2016, at Elant at Goshen, after a brief illness. He was 87. The son of the late Simon and Loretta Fitzgerald Mallon, he was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on December 21, 1928, but lived most of his early life in Bayside, Queens. In 1954, he became the luckiest man in the world when he married Catherine Walsh, with whom he recently celebrated a 62nd anniversary. Bernard was a member of the first graduating class of Fairfield University and received his Master’s degree from Hofstra University. Before retiring, he was a biologist with Bristol-Myers Squibb at their New Brunswick facility. He was a founding member of the Sayville Yacht Club and a member of the Monroe-Chester Sportsmen Club. Having a life-long interest in aviation, he coauthored a book, B-26: Marauders at War with the late Roger Freeman. He had many interests, was a voracious reader, and always did the New York Times Sunday crossword puzzle in ink. In addition to his wife, Bernard is survived by his children: Carol, of Hershey PA; Mark, of Las Cruces, NM; Christopher and his wife, Janet, of Ticonderoga; Michael and his wife, Teresa, of Chester; Mary, of Warwick; and Thomas and his wife, Tammy, of Appleton, NY. His grandchildren, David, Amy, Brendan, Catherine, and Meghan Mallon, and Daniel Sivley, also survive him. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Mallon Cleary. There will be no visitation.
