Obituary of Walter Richter

Walter Richter October 27, 1943 – July 21, 2019 Blooming Grove, NY Walter W. Richter a resident of Blooming Grove, NY passed away suddenly at his home and was pronounced into eternity on July 21, 2019. He was 75 years old. Walter graduated from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY with his Bachelor and Master degrees in Business Management and Organizational Leadership. He had an extensive 20+ years’ experience in administration, sales, manufacturing, and security. Walter started his career as a machinist, loved security work, had his real estate license, and in retirement years worked lastly at Resorts World Catskills. Walter proudly served in the United States Air Force and received a good conduct medal during his time of service. He was a parishioner at St. Mary’s Church in Washingtonville and was a member of the Tomahawk Lake Homeowners’ Association. His past volunteer endeavors included the Monell Fire Department, American Red Cross, and Friends of Goshen Library, among other volunteer endeavors. Walter had a deep passion for Gemology. Walter is the son of predeceased parents, Emma and William Richter. He leaves behind a sister Wilma and John Morrissey of Allenwood, NJ; three nieces Linda and Stanley Zelek of Brick, NJ and Susan and Richard Otten of Bath, PA and Christie Zelek of Brick NJ; and a nephew Michael and Phallon Zelek of Sewell, NJ and their daughter Ella. His family will forever remember Walter for his generous heart, humble soul, and giving spirit. An act of kindness for someone, with a thought of Walter, would be appreciated by the family as a legacy to his memory. A memorial service and burial with full military honors will take place on Friday, August 16, 2019 at 11:30am at the Orange County Veteran’s Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, NY 10924.
