Obituary of Dennis A. Murphy

Suffern, NY

Dennis A. Murphy, of Suffern, NY entered into eternal peace on Sunday, February 2, 2020 surrounded by his beloved family. He was 61. The son of Frances Keough Murphy and the late Eugene Murphy, Dennis was born on July 26, 1958 in Manhattan.

Dennis was a “Jack of all trades” from an early age, which lead him into the real estate investment business. This is where he met his late wife, Andrea, when he rented an apartment to her. Dennis and Andrea together enjoyed remodeling and redesigning their rental homes, while Dennis also worked full time in the plumbing, heating, and air conditioning field. Dennis was an all-around great man who would give the shirt off his back for anybody. He was a kind soul who will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Dennis is pre-deceased by his wife Andrea Murphy, daughter Tara Ann Murphy, father Eugene Murphy and brother Eugene F. Murphy.

He is survived by his loving children, Dennis Jr and Ashley Marie, mother Frances Keough Murphy, sister Susan Ballinger and husband John of Florida, and brothers Michael Murphy and wife Barbara of Suffern, Andrew Murphy and wife Lisa of Suffern, and Paul Murphy of Suffern. Brothers and sisters in law Santo Piluso (deceased), Vincent Piluso, Muriel Nestoros and husband Marios, Marie Piluso, Annie Spatta and husband Rich. Nieces and nephews Marianne, Michael, Jimmy, Matthew, Brian, Bryan, Kyla, Carolyn, Richard, Liam, Finn and many other family members. Dennis also leaves behind many special friends including Christine and John Santoro, and Tricia and Gaston Veintimilla. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2020 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Scarr Funeral Home, 160 Orange Ave, Suffern, NY 10901. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 7, 2020 at 11am at the Church of the Presentation, 271 W Saddle River Rd, Upper Saddle River, NJ 07458. Burial will immediately follow in the family plot at Ascension Cemetery, 650 Saddle River Rd in Airmont.
