Obituary of Rosilda Dorile Garson
Middletown, NY - formerly of Marina del Rey, CA
Rosilda (Rose), a resident of Middletown, NY, passed away gracefully on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at Garnet Hospital. She was a youthful 91. The daughter of Alfred Collette (who died in 1941) and Anna Sekac (who later married Frank (Ted) Gabson), Rosilda was born on January 7, 1933 in Queens, NY.
Rose’s first husband was Glenn Roddey, with whom she had five boys (she kept trying for a daughter, but realized after five boys the cards were against her). So yes, she was a housewife and mother for a good many years. Her second husband was Norman Garson, and she and Norman were very happy together (especially when they lived in California) for many years till Norman died in 2013.
Though Rose was a cosmetologist before and between husbands, she actually had unrealized talent as an artist, which came out when she started creating hand painted shirts in Venice, California.
Rose is survived by four of her sons: Steven (wife Judy), Keith, John (wife Carri Anne), and Raymond; two grandchildren, Kyle Roddey (wife Britni) and Amanda Walker (husband Alex Walker), and great grandchildren, Henry Roddey and Eleanor Walker, as well as her niece, Laura Allen-Wade.
She is predeceased by her first son, Arthur, who tragically died at the age of 15, both husbands, her parents, sister Annette Powell, and nephew, Kevin Powell.
My mother lived a good and long life. It was just time for her to move on to this next chapter.
