It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Helene Ward, a resident of Middletown, New York, who peacefully departed this life on Sunday, January 5th, 2025, at Kaplan Family Hospice Residence. Helene was 92 years old and was born on August 16th, 1932, in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, the beloved daughter of Frank and Jennie Piasecki Zowaski.
Throughout her life, Helene dedicated herself as a retired Food Service Worker at the New York State Psychiatric Hospital in Middletown, New York, leaving a lasting impact on those she served.
Celebrating her legacy are her devoted daughter, JoAnn Catlin, and husband Alan of Milon, IL; her son Eugene Sale of Matamoras, PA; daughter Cheryl Bardhi and husband Ahmet of Pflugerville, TX; son Edward Ward III of Otisville, New York; daughter Allyson Manuel of Jefferson Township, PA; 10 Grandchildren, 13 Great-Grandchildren, a niece, and two nephews.
Helene was preceded in death by her husband Edward Ward, her first husband Eugene Sale, her sister Rolanda Kaleita, and her brothers Frank Zowaski and James Zowaski.
A strong and compassionate figure, Helene served as the unwavering matriarch of the expansive Piasecki and Zowaski families, fostering connections and traditions that span generations. Family was the cornerstone of her life, and she reveled in passing down the rich heritage and cherished traditions of her family. Her joy stemmed from sharing holiday traditions, teaching treasured recipes, the art of canning, pickling, wine making, and so much more, all of which will continue to thrive for generations to come. A passionate gardener, Helene took immense pride in her blooms, always ready to share its beauty with visitors and eager to share the fruits of her labor with others.
Her unwavering strength and indomitable will guided her through life's challenges and triumphs, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. While we mourn her absence, we find solace in knowing that Helene is now at peace. Her legacy of love and resilience will forever live on in our hearts.
An interment of Helene's ashes will be held at Warwick Cemetery on January 18th, 2025, at 1:00pm. Family and friends are invited to participate, sharing stories, poems, prayers, or any contributions in honor of Helene's memory.
