I also studied German under Herr Beyer for 3 years at Mahwah High, 1979-1981. I learned more about English grammar and syntax from him than I did from my English classes. He was tough; no nonsense, highly discliplined, and by-the-book. But he had a light side too. I still remember quite a bit of German, even lines from what I suspect (now) were German drinking songs! I just looked him up on line because I heard one of those songs today and it really took me back. One of the best teachers I had at MHS. God bless him and his family.

Herr Beyer was my German teacher for three years at Mahwah High School. He was one of the best and most demanding teachers I had. I don’t remember much German, but the lessons he taught regarding organization of written work, grammar, and punctuality are skills I use every day as an engineer. My thoughts are with the Beyer family on the passing of this inspirational gentleman.

I am sorry for the loss of my father. I am sorry that I was not allowed to grieve, to see my childhood home and so forth. My sister refused to pick me up at the train station (locally) so I could attend after traveling with my family to NY from Colorado. We had a few mishaps with the itinerary but my sister was too busy making a collage to go out of her way 15 minutes . My father cared for her financially, it was not the other way around. Terri has isolated herself from all of her family. I am sorry for her loss and hope she can take care of herself now alone after all of these years. She fought for control over everything and there she sits, alone with her control….
