Harold O. Beyer September 23, 1926 – January 17, 2018 Harold O. Beyer Harold O. Beyer, a long-time resident of Chester, NY passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, January 17, 2018. The only son of the late Adolf and Erna Beyer, Harold was born on September 23, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY. Harold grew up in Hannover, Germany and returned to the States as a young adult, enlisting and serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He continued his education at New York University and went on to receive his Master’s degree from the State University of New York at New Paltz. He retired from Mahwah High School where he served as an educator for 25 years. In his free time, Harold enjoyed playing chess, solving crossword puzzles, and being our household handyman. He was always up for a rousing political debate, and in his later years became quite skilled with his computer graphics hobby. Survivors include his son Garett Beyer and wife Susan of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter, Teresa Beyer, at home; one sister, Ruth Kiessler of Erlangen, Germany; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nieces and a nephew, great-nieces and great-nephews. Harold was predeceased by his wife Eva; sister Gisela Porges, and three half-sisters; Sybil Maroth , Eileen Rende, and Dieta Beyer. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. A graveside ceremony with Military Honors will take place on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 11:00am at the Orange County Veteran’s Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, NY 10924.
